Why this is hard

Satellite imagery is abundant and almost unusable without a GIS specialist sitting next to you. Our work here is on the layer above it: fusing optical, radar, thermal and air-quality sources into assessments an analyst can read, with the methodology and the provenance attached, so a finding can be defended rather than merely displayed.

Questions we are working on

1. How do you fuse optical, radar and thermal sources when each is missing at different times and for different reasons?
2. What does a defensible environmental claim require attached to it, for an insurer or a regulator to accept it?
3. How should a forecast about a physical hazard express its uncertainty to a non-specialist reader?
4. Can ten years of history establish a baseline honest enough to judge a single season against?

What comes out of it

• Multi-sensor assessments over vegetation, water, built-up land and air quality
• Hazard work across drought, flood, landslide and wildfire, with calibrated probability ranges
• Change detection against a decade of imagery rather than a single prior scene
• Reports that carry their maps, methodology and sources, so the finding travels with its evidence
