What BluGrid is

A plant or a grid cannot pause for a software update, and the operator on shift cannot be handed a dashboard designed for a boardroom. BluGrid is the supervisory layer above your controllers: protocol gateways that speak to equipment built decades apart, a historian that holds years of telemetry at full resolution, alarm management that keeps the one alert that matters visible, and interfaces built for people who act under time pressure.

Modules

Protocol gateway and connectivity

Native drivers for OPC UA, MODBUS, DNP3, IEC 61850, Profibus, EtherCAT, and MQTT Sparkplug, with store-and-forward buffering so a link outage does not become a data hole.

Real-time supervisory control

Live process graphics, setpoint changes with confirm-and-commit and full authorisation, interlock display, control loop status, and a clear indication of what is in manual and why.

Historian and time series

Compressed high-resolution history over years, with sub-second query, trend comparison across assets, and export that engineering and data science can both use.

Alarm management

Rationalised alarm sets, shelving with expiry, flood suppression, priority that reflects consequence, and reporting aligned to ISA-18.2 so the alarm system is auditable.

Operator interfaces

Situational-awareness graphics built to ISA-101 rather than to decoration, video wall layouts, shift handover notes, and colour and contrast that hold up in a control room at three in the morning.

Asset performance and maintenance

Runtime hours, condition indicators, maintenance triggers raised from process data, work order handoff to your maintenance system, and reliability reporting per asset class.

Energy and efficiency

Consumption per unit produced, load profiling, peak and demand management, emissions reporting, and the efficiency of each unit against its own best historical run.

Security and compliance

Role-based authorisation on every control action, segregation between the control network and the enterprise network, signed configuration changes, and evidence packs aligned to IEC 62443.

What it does for you

  • Native connectivity to OPC UA, MODBUS, DNP3, IEC 61850, and MQTT Sparkplug
  • Store-and-forward buffering, so a link outage does not leave a hole in the history
  • A historian holding years of telemetry at full resolution with sub-second query
  • Alarm rationalisation, shelving, and flood suppression aligned to ISA-18.2
  • Operator graphics built to ISA-101 situational-awareness principles
  • Confirm-and-commit and full authorisation on every control action, with an audit trail

The AI inside BluGrid

Anomaly detection on process telemetry

Multivariate models learn what normal looks like for this unit, on this feed, at this rate, and raise the deviation that no single-tag alarm limit would catch.

Predictive maintenance

Vibration, temperature, current, and process context predict which asset is heading for failure, with enough notice to schedule it into a planned outage.

Soft sensors and quality inference

Where a laboratory result arrives hours late, a soft sensor infers it continuously from process variables, and is recalibrated every time the laboratory result lands.

Operator assistance

During an upset, the system surfaces the closest historical match, what was done then, and what happened next, with the procedure cited rather than paraphrased.

What it changes

99.999%Supervisory availability on redundant deployment
71%Reduction in alarms per operator per shift
5yearsOf full-resolution history kept queryable

Integrations

BluGrid is built to sit inside the estate you already run. These connectors ship with the product; anything else is an integration engagement rather than a limitation.

Questions we are asked

Does BluGrid replace our PLCs or DCS controllers?

No. It is the supervisory and historian layer above them. Your controllers keep doing deterministic control; BluGrid gives the control room, the history, the alarm discipline, and the analytics on top.

Can it run without an internet connection?

Yes. The standard deployment is on-premises with redundant servers and no dependency on external connectivity. A read-only cloud tier for reporting is optional and one-way.

How does it handle legacy equipment?

Through native protocol drivers and edge gateways. Equipment speaking MODBUS or a proprietary serial protocol is brought onto OPC UA or MQTT Sparkplug at the edge without replacing the equipment.

Is it secure enough for critical infrastructure?

It is designed against IEC 62443: network segregation, role-based authorisation on every control action, signed configuration changes, and evidence collection automated for audit. We will also run the gap assessment against your deployment.

How much history can it keep?

Years, at full resolution, with sub-second query. Compression is lossless for the tags you declare critical and configurable for the rest, and export to your data lake is a standard interface.

How it works

BluGrid, end to end.

The path a record takes through the product, and what the system does at each step without being asked.

01

Connect

Protocol gateways speak to controllers built decades apart, and buffer locally so a link outage never becomes a gap in the record.

02

Supervise

Live graphics, interlocks, and confirm-and-commit control give the operator the plant state and the consequence of the next action at the same time.

03

Retain

A historian keeps years of full-resolution telemetry queryable in under a second, for engineering and for data science alike.

04

Detect

Multivariate models learn normal for each unit and raise the deviation that a single-tag limit would never catch.

05

Account

Every control action is authorised, logged, and reportable, with evidence packs aligned to IEC 62443 and ISA-18.2.
